The feeling of Isolation is actually a good thing for your brand. It should have an invisible box surrounding and guarding your logo.
In branding, this is called the “Isolation Area” and it protects your brand from anything encroaching on it, detracting from its attention and confusing its message.
Think of it like having an invisible barrier around you preventing something from spoiling your serenity and encroaching on your personal space. You can get lost without room to breathe and be seen. It works the same with your logo.
The Isolation Area is measured from the outermost edges of the entire logo, including the tiers and acts as a buffer zone of neutral visual space that surrounds the logo to prevent visual interference from other graphic elements.
Your logo Isolation Area protects your brand and ensures your tone of voice is expressed consistently and without distraction or encroachment. Do not allow other graphic elements or brands penetrate your Isolation Area.
Your Isolation Area distance should be included in your brand guidelines. There is no set size or distance for your Isolation Area and it is often unique to each brand, however for simplicity, it is commonly measured by one of the characters or elements forming part of your logo. That way it is easy for creative designers to quickly confirm that the Isolation Area has been complied with.
